Community Priority Grants

Deadline: March 1, 2010

For Active Councils

Up to $20,000

Available annually 

In order to receive a Community Priority a Citizen Corps Council must:

• Adopt the Citizen Corps goals of helping community members become better prepared and providing training and volunteer opportunities to all citizens

• Be registered and up-to-date on citizencorps.gov

• Provide written documentation of meetings and activities within the last 6 months (Meeting agendas and sign-in sheets)
• Include broadly based membership from the public, private and volunteer sectors of the community

• Engaging the Business Community in Disaster Preparedness
• Engaging the Faith Based Community in Disaster Preparedness
• Spontaneous Volunteer Management
• Youth Programming
• Planning for Special Populations

Individual Training Scholarships

Citizen Corps provides scholarships for volunteers to attend a variety of disaster preparedness, response, or administrative trainings. Volunteers must be actively serving an organization in West Virginia that has a role in disaster preparedness, response, or recovery. See a list of training opportunities. Email Gina.L.Namay@wv.gov for a scholarship application.

• Up to $3,000
• Awarded Quarterly
• Ongoing Submissions

• Design Projects to build individual, family, or community preparedness
• Integrate volunteers into emergency preparedness and response plans
