The West Virginia Citizen Corps program is a state and local initiative created to involve community organizations, individuals and volunteers in building a culture of preparedness. Regardless of where we live and who we are, we all have a role in making our communities safer, stronger and better prepared.

Citizen Corps Grants

There will be ONE Mini-Grant Cycle in 2013, unless other funding becomes available. 
Deadline for Submission:  February 8, 2013
Grant Amount: Up to $2,000

Note: There will be NO large Citizen Corps Priority Grants offered in 2013.


What can I do with a Mini Grant? 
    • Coordinate and build a CERT program and team in your community
    • Community preparedness training
    • Volunteer response training and exercises
    • Partner with local businesses, faith-based or other disaster volunteer organizations to build a network of trained volunteers
    • Design projects to build individual, family, or community preparedness
    • Integrate trained volunteers into local emergency preparedness and response plans for Citizen Corps, CERT,  Federal Partner Programs, Federal Affiliates and Local Volunteer Centers

The Grant's Focus/Purpose is on: 


  • Providing trained volunteers that can help support local first responders during an emergency or disaster
  • Development of written plans and procedures for volunteer uitlization
  • Integratation of trained volunteers into local emergency preparedness and response plans, such as those volunteers with Citizen Corps, CERT, federal affiliate and partner programs and local volunteer centers. 
  • Priority will be given to New and Approved CERT and affiliate programs.
